The wonders of the way the world works...

Journal Entry: Mon Sep 14, 2009, 1:33 PM

Is it a wonder why so many people believe in a guiding consciousnes behind creation?

Scientists have recently found that the saliva of an otherwise disgusting bug, the tick, may actually unlock the secret to curing skin, pancreatic and liver cancer. The saliva contains an interesting protein that is similar to an anti-coagulant the medical field is already using.

They have been testing the protein on lab mice with cancer, and found that just a 2 week treatment period has halted the growth of the tumor, and in some cases even shrunk it. A 42 week regime has, in most cases, even completely eliminated the tumor.

This is not the first time this kind of thing has been discovered. The world is full of examples of nature providing the answers to medical treatments. Those who know me, know that I'm very much of the scientific mindset, I believe in evolution and adaptation, but it is situations like this, where something that is normally considered a parasite can actually cure a condition that decades of medical study has been at a loss at doing, that keeps me believing that there is more to the universe than our scientific instruments can currently quantify. The universe is more than the product of a random series of happenstanses.

Just think about it.
